2. Reverential, Fictional, and Satirical Characters
This site features literary characters such as Dominick Burro and Chela the Owl, along with creative representations inspired by traditions associated with St. Timoteo and St. Jacinto.
- Dominick and Chela are fictional literary characters used to voice satire and advocacy.
- St. Timoteo and St. Jacinto are honored within Catholic tradition.
Their inclusion here is intended as an act of cultural reverence blended with literary and educational storytelling.
- No disrespect is intended toward any religious figure, tradition, or believer.
Religious Note:
Humor and satire have long been accepted tools for moral teaching, both historically and scripturally.
The Bible contains numerous examples where humor, satire, and even mockery are used to confront injustice, hypocrisy, and folly:
- 1 Kings 18:27 — Elijah satirizes false prophets.
- Matthew 23:27 — Jesus criticizes hypocrites as "whitewashed tombs."
- Proverbs 26:5 — "Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes."
Additionally, human beings are said to be made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27).
Thus, if humor exists within the human spirit, it can be viewed as part of the divine image.
Our use of humor, satire, and righteous indignation is intended as a continuation of this long tradition of speaking truth with both seriousness and wit.
