A Guide to Public Comments

📝 How to Write an effective Public Comment
Over the last two years, a small group of committed neighbors have done everything they could to stop this project from moving forward. They showed up early. They took the first hits. They kept it from sliding through quietly.
They were the Marines.
We’re bringing the full air campaign.
We’re organizing, scaling, and targeting this from every angle, legally, publicly, and politically. And now, we need your voice on the record.
💡 Why Your Comment Matters
The County doesn’t count Facebook likes. It counts public comments, especially those submitted in time for the official record.
They’re looking at:
-
How many people submitted input
-
What concerns were raised
-
Whether real issues were documented, not just feelings
Most comments submitted so far have been heartfelt, but many have been general or duplicated. We can do better, together.
We don’t need 1,000 essays.
We need 200 credible, local comments that say:
“I live here. I see the risk. And I want you to vote no.”
✍️ What to Say (Simple Framework)
We know writing this stuff can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re angry, worried, or unsure where to start. Here’s a structure that makes it easy:
🟩 Comment Template
Subject: I Oppose GPA240074 – Please Vote No
Hello,
My name is [Your Name], and I live in [Your Neighborhood / Cross Streets / Zip].
I’m writing to ask that you oppose GPA240074.
I understand this is “just the initiation phase,” but once a project is initiated, the momentum builds. We need to stop this before it gains traction.
I’m concerned about:
– [pick one or two: sewage risks, fire hazard zone, fault lines, wildlife impact, lack of a second road, etc.]I don’t believe this is safe or responsible planning — especially not under the label of “affordable housing.”
Please vote no on this project.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]

🛠️ Need Help?
We’re building a local strike team to help neighbors like you:
-
Pick the issue(s) that matter most to you
-
Draft a short comment
-
Submit it before the deadline
You don’t need to be a lawyer.
You just need to be real, be specific, and show up.
🗣️ Pro Tip: Ask a Question That Sticks
Sometimes a single line hits harder than paragraphs:
“Supervisor [Name], are you comfortable placing families on top of a fault line, with 200,000 gallons of stored sewage and diesel uphill from them?”
You’re not just making noise — you’re demanding accountability.
